Non peer-reviewed Journal Articles

Every day, countless scientists and researchers, myself included, contribute to the growing body of knowledge by submitting our research work, both funded and non-funded, in the form of papers. Ironically, while the authors of these crucial discoveries do not receive any form of royalty, the majority of these papers are only accessible through costly subscriptions, placing them out of reach for many. This practice, which began in the late 1990s, has created a somewhat exclusive domain, often reserving knowledge for those with the financial means.

However, the advent of open-access journals and peer-reviewed preprints has started to challenge this norm, providing a more inclusive platform for sharing research. Moreover, my admiration goes out to the revolutionary efforts of Alexandra Elbakyan, the brains behind Sci-Hub, often dubbed as the "Robinhood of the Scientific World."

With the creation of Sci-Hub, the vast library of research papers has been made available to everyone, breaking down the barriers set by expensive subscriptions. Alexandra's pioneering endeavor underscores the principle that knowledge should be universally accessible, and not a privilege for the rich. So, here's a nod of respect to Sci-Hub and Alexandra Elbakyan for democratizing access to scientific knowledge!
